Agency or Freelancer?

Freelancer or Agency?
Agency or Freelancer?

I could give you the pros and cons, but you could just Google that.

Or, you might come across a LinkedIn thread of agency owners and freelancers telling you why they’re the ONLY way to go. I did, wasn’t pretty, wrote this instead.

The way I see it is you’re always hiring a person. What impression are they giving you?

Does the agency owner/rep look like the kind of person who's going to sell you the world, delegate, and watch the money roll in? Don’t hire them.

Does the freelancer lack grit, seem idealistic, or need too much management to get things over the line? Don’t hire them.

I’ve worked with INCREDIBLE freelancers, Mused would be nothing without.
I run an INCREDIBLE agency that is the sum of its parts (me aside lol).

I’ve burnt the candle at both ends and made mistakes for the bottom line.
I’ve seen freelancers deliver work with zero practical use. Hell, I’ve been one.

So, for me at least, it’s really about the person, and how much (and how skillfully) they’re hoping to fight for your brand.

Agree or disagree? Let me, Oliver, or Oli, know in the comments or a strongly worded email (hello@mused.design).
