Why Brad Pitt is the perfect client.
Following my piece on how not to kill a designer, here are some tips on being an absolute dreamboat of a client. I’m talking about Brad Pitt-level dreamboatery.
By being this level of client, you can expect sought-after, deeply talented people, fighting to work for you. Time and time again, this is the talent fueling the best DTC brands.
Follow these 10 commandments and you’ll be alright.
- 1. Be kind.
- 11. Pay well.
- 111. Understand the value of design.
- 1v. Care deeply about what you’re building.
- v. Be clear in your direction, but not closed.
- v1. Don’t wield urgency to negotiate, or manipulate.
- v11. Honour feedback dates, how they honour delivery dates.
- v111.Value and follow the process you’re paying good money for.
- 1x. Communicate your consumer's expectations, not just yours.
- x. When it’s all over - recommend, celebrate, and promote top talent.
If you’re already rolling that that, kudos to you. If you want to, let me, Oliver, or Oli, know in the comments or a strongly worded email (hello@mused.design).
